{"id":5291,"date":"2020-03-27T14:42:31","date_gmt":"2020-03-27T13:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abvl.ch\/about-us\/"},"modified":"2025-10-08T15:01:57","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T13:01:57","slug":"about-us","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.abvl.ch\/en\/about-us\/","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"the-content\"><p>The <strong>Association des amis des bateaux \u00e0 vapeur du L\u00e9man<\/strong> (ABVL) is a non-profit association which endeavours to secure funding to conserve the eight Belle Epoque boats of the Compagnie G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de Navigation (CGN) \u2013 <em>Montreux, Vevey, Italie, La Suisse, Savoie, Simplon, Helv\u00e9tie and Rh\u00f4ne \u2013 and keep them in regular service. <\/em>It is registered on the Canton of Vaud trade register;<\/p>\n<p>Founded in June 2002 by true enthusiasts keen to ensure the survival of this fleet which had suddenly found itself in danger for financial reasons, it now boasts some 20,000 sponsors and almost 4,000 active members.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to the donations collected by the ABVL, seven of the eight Belle Epoque boats of the CGN have been partially or fully renovated.<\/p>\n<p>To date, the ABVL has collected donations totalling nearly CHF 40 million. The funds provided by the ABVL since its creation in 2002 represent approximately 35% of the total amount invested in renovating the fleet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Structure of the association<\/h2>\n<p>The organs of the ABVL are the general meeting, the committee and the auditors.<\/p>\n<p>The general meeting is the highest body of the ABVL. It meets once a year.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Articles of association<\/h2>\n<p>You can consult these by clicking on: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.abvl.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/abvl-statuts-2021.pdf\">ABVL-articles of association (in french)<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>The Pro Vapore Foundation<\/h2>\n<p>In 2006, the ABVL created a foundation based in Geneva with the same statutory purpose as its own, to which it entrusts the funds collected.<\/p>\n<p>Pro Vapore is registered on the Canton of Geneva trade register and operates under the auspices of the Foundations Supervisory Service.
